Gist Fountain Pen - All Zirconium

Updates!

Pardon the lame photos. The pen in the photos has a titanium nib installed in it.

These are in stock and ready to ship. It looks like these will be limited to about 25 pens in total because zirconium likes to snap drill bits and I currently don't have any more of the size I was using and the manufacturer discontinued that size.

Zirconium is just below titanium on the periodic table so it has many of the same characteristics. In solid form it almost won't burn and is often used in many nuclear reactor applications, but when it is in chip form it easily ignites and burns at 8000+ degrees. For this reason it is very hard to machine and when I made the first prototypes I nearly burned my Kia CNC lathe to the ground so I refrained from continuing to make an all zirconium pen. Now that the DMG Mori lathe is in and it has high pressure coolant that allows me to use coolant thru drills that push 1000 PSI of coolant to the tip of the drill the worries about fire are no longer an issue.

The best part about fountain pens is the fact that they are so customizable. This line of fountain pens takes that to a whole new level by allowing you to choose from many different materials that come together in a magnificent design that works well. All pens have the same dimensions, but you get to choose what materials suit your style best. Eight of the best materials known to man make a total of 21 different models you can choose from.
